L.A. Noire Public Menace Achievement
Description: Rack up $47,000 in penalties during a single story case.
This L.A. Noire Achievement can be difficult. Things were not as expensive back then, so it takes quite a bit of work to break $47,000 in penalties. You can try running over street lamps and people, but the fastest way I found to really drive up your penalties is in car crashes.
Follow one of my case guides and get to a place right before the end of a case. Then, before the case is over, start getting your penalties. The reason for doing it this way is so that if you don’t get enough penalties you can resume your game from the last save point without having to do the whole case again.
How to get lots of penalties with car crashes: Get your car going at a pretty good cruising speed, then hit an oncoming car head-on. Usually this will completely wreck the other car, but leave your car in driving condition. Each car can usually do this two or three times before it is totaled. After you total the car you are driving, commandeer another one and do it again. Saying that you wreck 4 cars with each car that you commandeer (3 oncoming cars plus the 1 you are driving), you can quickly wreck a lot of cars. I wasn’t keeping a close count when I did this, but I had to do this with at least twenty different commandeered vehicles. I wound up with over $55,000 in vehicle penalties.
